2022 Roundup

This is a collection of 2022 projects that are turned or normal woodwork, that I have been commissioned or done to sell.

Turning

This is a collection of turned bowls and fruit made of wood from Snainton Woodworking Supplies. If you would like to know more about these things, see the home page of my website. I enjoyed turning these things a lot, although I did not enjoy turning the Xylia bowl. It chipped and was incredibly hard. I loved turning the fruit from spalted Ash. I had not tried fruit before. The two photos are a before and after of all the wood I bought.

This is a bowl I made by gluing different pieces of wood together. The centre of the bowl is Mahogany and then going outwards there is Maple, Ebony, Walnut, Ebony, and Maple.

This is a small turned birch box I made for a friend who gave me the wood.

This is an Oak bowl with an Ebony stripe. I made it using a friends Oak firewood, and then I gave them the bowl.

Woodwork

This photo shows some cupboard doors that I made out of Pine. I started by by cutting two pieces of wood the right size for the doors, and then I made the frame with the routed edge. They were then painted and installed on the hinges.

This was a commissioned toy box that a made a few months ago. Made from 15mm pine, there are a total of 72 ‘fingers’ in the finger joints, (also known as box joints or comb joints). It took quite a while to cut all of them!

These are a few of the projects that I have under taken during 2022 and I look forward to more projects and commissions in 2023.
